Meet Becca

Book blogger, romance enthusiast, and advocate for steamy reads that don't skimp on story.

My Reading Journey

Hello, fellow book lovers! I'm Rebecca Morgan (though everyone calls me Becca), and I've been devouring books since I was old enough to turn pages. My grandmother gifted me Pride and Prejudice for my 13th birthday, and I was instantly captivated by Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy's romantic tension. That first taste of romance literature sparked a lifelong love affair with books that explore human connection, desire, and the messy beauty of relationships.

After completing my degree in English Literature, I spent five years working for a major publishing house, where I discovered my passion for helping readers find their next favorite book. While I loved the publishing world, I craved a more personal way to connect with fellow readers who share my specific tastes, especially those who appreciate romance novels with both emotional depth and spice.

That's how BeccasBooks was born in 2023. What started as a small Instagram account has grown into this website where I can dive deeper into reviews, curate specialized recommendations, and build a community around the books we love. When I'm not reading (which is rare!), you'll find me exploring coffee shops in my hometown of Seattle, hiking with my rescue dog Austen, or attending author events and book festivals around the country.

What You'll Find on BeccasBooks

Romance Across Genres

From contemporary to fantasy, historical to paranormal—if it has a compelling romance at its core, I'm interested! I believe love stories come in all settings and time periods.

Heat Levels for Every Reader

While I'm known for my spicy recommendations, I review books across the heat spectrum—from sweet closed-door romances to scorching explicit stories, clearly rated so you know what to expect.

Thoughtful Story Analysis

I believe romance deserves the same critical respect as any literary genre. My reviews go beyond "it was cute" to analyze character development, themes, and writing craft.

Diverse Love Stories

I'm committed to featuring books with diverse characters, relationships, and authors. Love is universal, and I want my recommendations to reflect the beautiful diversity of human experience.

"Romance isn't about perfect people finding perfect love. It's about flawed people finding the perfect person who accepts them exactly as they are."

— My reading manifesto

My Reading Philosophy

I firmly believe that romance novels are not just "guilty pleasures"—they're stories that celebrate human connection, emotional growth, and the transformative power of love. Women's fiction and romance have been dismissed as frivolous for far too long, and I'm on a mission to change that perception.

To me, a great romance novel must have three key elements:

  1. Characters who feel real, flawed, and developed beyond their romantic storyline
  2. Emotional depth that makes me genuinely care about the relationship's success
  3. Chemistry that jumps off the page (whether that's expressed in steamy scenes or tension-filled glances)

I believe in transparency with my readers. Every book I recommend comes with clear content notes and heat ratings so you can find your perfect match, whether you prefer your romance sweet and subtle or blazing hot.

Fun Facts About Me

I can't start reading without a cup of tea or coffee. My current obsession is lavender London fog lattes while reading historical romance.

My personal library contains over 2,000 books, and I've had to implement a "one in, one out" policy to keep my apartment from being completely overrun.

My rescue dog Austen (yes, named after Jane) has his own Instagram account where he "reviews" books by how comfortable they are to nap on.

I once embarrassed myself by fangirling so hard at an author signing that I spilled my drink on my favorite writer. She was lovely about it, and now signs all my books with "Stay hydrated!"

I'm a dedicated night owl. My best reading happens between 10 PM and 2 AM, which has led to many "just one more chapter" moments that turn into sunrise.

I plan my vacations around literary locations. So far, I've visited the moors from Wuthering Heights, Austen's Bath, and the castle that inspired parts of Outlander.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions I get asked most often about books, reviewing, and the blog.

Do you accept review requests?

Yes, I consider review requests from both indie and traditionally published authors. However, due to the volume of requests and my limited reading time, I can only accept books that align with my reading preferences. Please check my contact page for current submission guidelines.

How do you rate books?

My rating system is based on a 5-star scale, considering factors like character development, plot, writing quality, emotional impact, and overall enjoyment. I also separately rate the "spice level" from 1-5 flames to help readers find their preferred heat level. I believe in honest reviews - not every book works for every reader, and that's okay!

Do you make money from your blog?

BeccasBooks does include some affiliate links, which means I earn a small commission if you purchase a book through certain links on my site (at no additional cost to you). I occasionally accept sponsored content, which is always clearly marked. However, my reviews are 100% honest and never influenced by compensation - I only recommend books I genuinely enjoy.

Are you an author?

Not yet, but I do have a romance manuscript in progress! It's a contemporary romance set in the world of rare book collecting. Writing fiction has given me even more respect for the authors whose work I review. I'll share more about my writing journey in the blog section when I'm further along.
